I havent been offered anything else, so it looks like we are staying.
I got the part-time position as a freelance editor for the Oxford English Dictionary. This means I get street cred and a little money. ($24 per hour)
I may be teaching Intro to Linguistics this semester, or at least Grammar again.
I dont know about IEP. We dont have that many students. It looks like I may not get a full term.
Interestingly though, I did get a pay raise for the IEP job. Hopefully they can give me a full at the beginning. If not that means I may have to take another class from UL and then it will be strange if she needs me when the second fall session begins.
I did not get the position at UL which means we will be moving. I dont know where, maybe Tallahassee, FL maybe somewhere else.
I dont want to talk about it any more.
The site is about to undergo a major transition and changes.
I have found evidence that the site has been infected with a worm which created redirects.
I have been wanting to get rid of phpBB for a simpler bulletin board.
I dont know exactly what will happen, but I wanted to warn you in case some changes occur.
why does the length between posts get longer?
I am teaching again this semester at ULL.
Unfortunately, I did not get a full teaching load because I am an Adjunct.
IEP – lvl 6 – M-F 9-11
English Grammar – MW – 1:30pm – 2:45pm (really glad i got this class)
Writing and Reading about Culture – M – 6:00pm – 8:50pm.
I havent been paid since December 15th. I planned for this, but things are getting tight.
The summer is going to be rough since I am not teaching as many classes as I would like. I will not be able to teach for the English department during the Summer. Hopefully, I will be able to find another job.
I am applying to bunch of positions and will be posting more details.
Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and if I dont see you‚ later, have a good year.
I have been so busy this semester. I barely finished grading the papers before I had to turn them in.
I hope everyone out there is having a Happy Holiday or two.
This semester is going to go by fast especially with the IEP classes (only 8 weeks of classes).
I have no routine yet, just running around trying to keep my head screwed on. I now spend so much time at ULL. I havent spent this much time since I was taking Dr Anderson’s Beowulf course.
My students seem to be nice. Though I know they are trying to weasel out of assignments. Its funny the difference between Community College and University. I havent taught at the University in a year and its striking.
University Students, for the most part, realize this is different than high school. I didnt get that from the CC students. I was also teaching 90 and 92, so maybe that is part of it. Another nice difference is the age of the students. Though I was able to teach a few older students at CC. Most especially the New Iberia classes were in their late teen years. It is refreshing to have students answering questions like adults instead of only repeating what others have said.
360 will be interesting. The book we are using is Everything is an Argument. We “debated” last night the idea of who brings meaning to a TEXT – written, spoken, or visual. Is it the author or the audience? They actually defended their beliefs and understood what I was saying (within reason). Actually nice to allow the class to teach itself.
Ill try to post more later.
