I miss Mary… i know i know… i shouldn’t write this but it is the truth…

She is playing DnD tonight with a whole bunch of women-less lonely geeks… it is rough to be here and think about her being surrounded by them…

she swares one of them is married and the other has a girlfriend… but what does that really mean? men are pigs.. they cheat all the time… bastards… let me get my hands on them i’ll kick their ass…

heh i haven’t even met these gentlemen and i’ve already planned their deaths… not good..

I SWEAR I AM A NICE PERSON REALLY!

mom says my blog demonstrates that i have a god complex……………….

well you do know God is dead… the position needs filling… i have the right qualifications…

some truths…

the semester is finished…

could have done better in history… could have done worse in all my other classes..

i’m bored.. no more research papers.. this is the first semester i’m feeling displaced.. it is like i look around and there is nothing to do. I’m even out of gaming options… that was my mind numbing take a break moment…

not being able to work on my paper and not knowing how Dr. Berkeley is going to recieve the paper is bugging the hell out of me.

i wanted desperately to watch sideways tonight, but nature was against me. I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to go with me. I will go see Ray tonight though. that should be fun. yeah i’m pathetic…

I ate lunch with michael and i asked him if he wanted to go see sideways. He said he would love to but he and his wife are going on a date tonight and so he can’t. He was going with his wife to go see the movie i went and saw last night… yeah the “what the !@#$ do we know” movie… I laughed and said it was a mistake to go see that movie because of X Y and Z…

He calls his wife later and told her that he was having lunch with me. She apparently asks if i was free tonight and invites me to go see that great movie. I vigorously shake my head. He explains my feelings about the movie. They say we can go see another movie if you want, how about Ray?

So there you have it.. i’m a third wheel on their date… i feel bad… i’m a little pathetic.. she did ask me.. he didn’t even tell her that i was having problems finding something to do.. so she is just nice…

oh well so we see Ray tonight.

“WHAT THE #$*! DO WE KNOW?!”

Filed under: Entries — arglor @ 9:14 am

“WHAT THE #$*! DO WE KNOW?!” is a film i watched yesterday. It had to be the strangest and most annoying intellectual spree into film i’ve ever experienced. Where do i start. The movie is ultimately boring.

Ok brief outline, it is apparently a jaunt into physics and describing the world and what quantum mechanics means for our understanding of the world.

Problems:
1) They fuck philosophy left and right. These ‘physicists’, oh shit i think they are physicists but i don’t really know because the film doesn’t tell you who the hell they are, sit around explainingquantum mechancis and what it is that this ‘science’ has told us about existence. They throw around phrases like, “Quantum mechanics tells us that the observer alters the object just by merely observing. ” and, ” We have looked all through the body and we can’t find something called the observer, (i.e. i assume he is talking about the soul) but yet we readily accept the fact that we play the role of observer.” How does this fuck philosophy? Just that Kant was arguing this shit in the 18th century. Quantum mechanics is pretty fucking new. THEY DIDN’T SOURCE HIM FOR THE IDEA AT ALL!!!

2) They kept making these broad claims like, “reality is 99% mystery and 1% understood” and, “quantum mechanics tells us a partical can be in two places at the same time, could you imagine what that means for us? WE could be at two places at the same time” WTF?! where the hell did they get that.. fallacy of composition.. sorry the movie sucks..

3) They have this framework of drama that is ultimately gay. This woman who is a photographer, ultimate observer see?, loses his boyfriend and we follow her around as she is bitchy all day. she has a dream and there is this explanation about how indians couldn’t see the clippers off the coast because they never had any experience seeing clipper ships and therefore they were invisible. Apparently a shaman examined the movement of the water and noticed the objects causeing it and then he told the other indians about the ships and suddenly they all saw the ships… I WISH I HAD A SOURCE FOR THIS BS. Does that mean we walk around ingoring things that don’t fit in our worldview? How does that explain lunatics? YOU CAN’T JUST STATE THIS SHIT WITHOUT ADDING BACKING!

i’m done.. the movie sucked.. waste of time.. i left in the middle of it.. i might rent it one day and try and find the sources for the worthless film but i doubt it.

4 pages on NET, 8 pages on Nietzsche, 3 pages on david and what do you get?

Filed under: Entries — arglor @ 11:09 am

A happy boy. I worked on this paper for too long and i’ve had to cut an awful lot. I will turn my paper in. The pagential breakdown reads as follows
4 pages devoted to describing NET criteria
8 pages devoted to evaluating Nietzsche’s position on morality and building a NET out of Nietzsche’s work.
3 pages of synthetic analysis concluding that morality cannot be arbitrary nor can it be stagnant.

8 sources ranging from hardcore philosophical works like Hegel’s Logic, where i derive the use of the Hegelian Dialectic and the influences of Kant on Hegel’s dialectical method, to the bible. Yes folks i quoted the bible.. What paper on morality is complete without actually bringing the bible out and poking fun at it? if it is an ethical paper, this is simply necessary.

Trey, thanks for looking over my paper and marking it red like a beeotch… didn’t know my gramatical skills had fallen so far down, althought i’m positive you guys knew. You read my blogs every day and realize, “this guy is a grammatical moron…” oh well. thanks again Trey.

LIFE FEEDS ON LIFE! FEEDS ON LIFE! FEEDS ON LIFE! FEEDS ON LIFE!

sorry little tool snuck in my head… i’m in a strange mood today…

I need to study for both of my finals that are tomorrow, but they are history and anthropology…. i can do those backwards and forwards and even in my sleep.. did i mention i feel like a god? i wonder if i can stop a bus with my mere hands… leap tall buildings… fly perhaps? need to go and check to see if my innate super powers have perhaps kicked in…

hmm i’m done.. hope everyone is having a good day…

The amazing number three…

Filed under: Entries — arglor @ 11:42 am

I was in Anthropology of Religion and I overheard that our society is indoctrinated with the understanding of threes. When we issue out ideas, if they fall in a series it is our Gaelic heritage which propels us to forumlate them in three. I had recognized this pattern, but had assumed it was an internal reaction to destroy false dichotomies. Instead of recognizing the duality of the world, we posit the triality (sp? hell is it even a word?) of the world. The third part is always a point in the center of the two opposing viewpoints.

Three main points in a paper?

Three musketeers? (hehe)

i’m getting silly now, but honestly evaluate your own listing abilities and decide whether or not your gaelic. The Celts believe three was a magic number, perhaps we do also.

So… destructive tendencies eh?

I spoke with Trey last night. He is one of the people who i gave Michael’s work so that I could get other people’s interpretations of it. I’m interested in spreading it around because I think it is a damn good story and i’m wishing someone would finish it. Also i believe he should get recognition for being talented.

Trey is enjoying the story, and agrees that the man had some serious talent. In fact, interestingly enough, he agrees that M. Buornauro had time down pat. If you are going to have a superhero who can manipulate time, you had better create a conception of time. M.B. did a pretty good job at actually creating a conception of time.

Trey told me though that if he had not known that M.B. had commited suicide, that he would have guessed it in the near future after reading his work. He believes there is enough evidence to suggest the individual was preocuppied with suicide.

I didn’t notice it, but then i watched a film M.B. made. I guess it even alludes to the future, since the character in there threatens to commit suicide. Alluding to being, “crazy….. crazzzzzyyy.” He was a loon.

So where can you segregate the artist from the work? Is it possible? Can we honestly say that the work isn’t testament to how the artist is feeling?

Mary and I get in this debate all the time, but it is personal there. She wrote a novel and argues that the novel has nothing to do with her, or at least that you have to watch what you link her up with in her novel. Oh well… i’m sure there are skads of literary analysis that debate this topic.

so i saw closer….

Filed under: Entries — arglor @ 5:32 pm

Interesting story.. i watched closer and i’m thinking, “This movie reminds me of another movie… NO IT IS A BOOK I READ! wow. Kundera’s book ‘the unbearable lightness of being'” then suddenly at the end of the film i think, the movie wasn’t half bad right? I look and see what the director has done before. The Graduate turns out to be his work. Interesting link.

Spastic post i know… i’m briefly posting this because i need to return to fleshing out part three of my paper.
