star wars…
i can really only say that this movie succeeded in doing what it needed to do, but failing in all the different varing ways the other two movies failed.
problems
– bad dialogue
– bad acting
sucesses
– successful tie in to the series
– darth vader’s death was pretty kewl, he is a bad ass.
– good production values, but boring action scenes, odd eh? i could have cared less about all the fancy gadgetry, because i cared less about the characters involved.

Darth Vader died? Where was I? I agree that the character development was poor in this film. The only sympathetic character was Anakin (using ‘sympathetic’ in the sense that I could identify with him). Possibly his wife Padme (Padome? Padmay?) near the end, when she sees who he has become. But I did not have strong feelings for anyone in the film. Overall, though, I thought it was a pretty good film. I do not seem to have as much of a problem with the dialogue as you do. The only scene that I was terribly disappointed with was the one in which Anakin really gives himself over to the dark side. That scene could have been better. I could sense what I think the intention was, but I just didn’t feel the full effect of it. I’m not sure what they could have done to make it better. In other scenes, yes, the dialogue is a bit campy, but that’s the Star Wars universe for you. It’s slightly dumbed down for a broad audience including youngsters. This is all based on my first impressions of course. I am known to change my opinions after multiple viewings. P.S. (Good luck with the job hunt – and everything!)
