There is an addendum to the last post.

There is another reason i haven’t been posting much, because progress in the job search has been so little. Maybe i hinted, or even stated this earlier, but you see nothing is worse then being unemployed and having bills coming up that need money to be paid and the significant other feels like your goofing off. So i avoided the blogsphere 100% until i got some sort of positive progress. If i had negative progress, then it would look twice as bad to the woman i love if i spent 10% of my time writing blogs. aka goofing off. So my time at the computer has been spent working. I wake up at 8-9 and begin searching and sending out resumes.

Today i went to an interview and took tests for delta legal, which is a legal temp agency. I scored as follows:
100% -> Excel
97% -> Word
100% -> Powerpoint
76 Words per minute average typing test.

woo hoo go me. What is not listed above is that I also played IT guy in the back. The computer froze during the tests. I got a secretary to come in and told her how to diagnose the problem. Java script is a bitch, and for somereason it was flooding their computer and freezing it. I told her it might have something to do with having five java applications open in the background simultaneously. She asked how to close them. I closed them. Problem is the problem was recurring. So she got their own IT guy to come out and tell me that the computer was FUBAR so i moved to another compute. I thought to myself, “I could do his job”. After the Interviewer recieved my results she was very pleased with my performance, like i knew she would be.

I’m thinking of going back tomorrow and taking the wordperfect test and some of the more advanced tests. They say we can study the programs before taking the tests. When i took the typing test, i pissed off everyone in the room. They were trying to take their typing tests, and i was throwing them off. Funny.

Vegetarianism isn’t going so good. I have resigned to arguing that i’m a “conscientious eater” What is that you ask? I’m glad you asked, it is someone who recognized the pain and suffering animals go through before I partake of their flesh. I consign myself to being 25% carnivore. I can’t give meat up. I don’t like enough vegetables.

P.S. Now i need to send my resume off to the ACLU and other establishments. Man i hope one kewl lawfirm signs me up for a training position. I really would like to get working in Law.

    I would say to expect anything less than nearly perfect on the test would make me seriously wonder about your level of concentration. I mean how long have we been using Word, let alone working with computers. The only way you could have failed those tests would be to randomnly answer the questions without reading them. Was it artificially set up? I would assume this to be the case because you said the Java script kept messing up. Usually its a fake office program that mimics specific parts of the program you are testing on. When I went to the temp agency to apply for jobs(I do this every time I need a job and end up finding one outside of the agency), I scored high on everything they threw at me. I took the computer tests and the accounting tests and the “filing” tests. I think the tests are designed as a method to weed out the masses as opposed to testing your skill. I remember taking the Powerpoint test and laughing during the test because the tutorial (paperclip) was helping me with the answers. I messed up some on the Access test because I wanted to hardcode the solution and it kept telling me I was making an error. I beg to differ I was only solving the problem in an easier, avoid the fucking wizard, way. I hope you get a good job instead of a temp job that bores the hell out of you. So instead of blogging you were playing Four Swords? How is that not “goofing off”. Wilbur

    the only time i played four swords was when mary needed to work on the computer or i was so scatter brained i couldn’t work on my resume’s… in the end i played very little four swords.. and still play it only maybe an hour or so a day..

    You’re going to get a decent job with no problem. I still haven’t sent out a single resume. hehe … I might have to pull an all-nighter like I would do for my class assignments …

    i never thought he was goofing off. never breathed a word about it. it’s my neighbor who thinks david’s a couch potato. and this i only know because david told me how a- came in and found him on the couch and asked why he wasn’t out canvassing the streets of manhattan. to which david said something about applying to temp agencies online… when david told me this, my response was something like, “did you tell him that people with College Degrees don’t [i:994800d603]have[/i:994800d603] to trudge through the streets looking for jobs, because office jobs advertise online or in the paper, rather than putting flyers that say things like COLORIST NEEDED ASAP or OPENING FOR EXPERIENCED PEDICURIST in the salon window?” which isn’t fair really, because a- has just begun majoring in poli sci or something at CUNY and knows this and probably he’s just worrying about me and my boyfriend who just moved in and whom he caught lost in thought on the couch. but it was still judgmental of him, to respond the way he did. so i lashed out. anyway, in sum, this post was intended to communicate that i am not pressuring david to get a job. i know he will. he is quite capable. and he is putting enough pressure on himself. thank you and good night.

    With your insistence of claiming you were not pressuring him, we see that he has been trapped by a seductress out to suck the blood from his limbs. We must plan an attack, my fellow warriors. To NEWYORK we must ride. For the brave David is in danger. I hope it is not too late and that we have not tarried to long. I must . . . stop talking in such a manner. (ixnay on iscussionday about the escueray) Wilbur (really not planning anything, serious.)
