Hi.

Filed under: Entries — arglor @ 6:40 pm

What to say about the last few days. I haven’t spoken about movies lately.

I did not go see Basquiat. I know i know. The lines were insane even when i had to pay to see it. I wasn’t waiting two hours to see paintings of a man i’m not sure i even like. I was interested, but not enthused.

Now there is another exhibit that i see is going on right now that i will go to see soon. It is Monet. Monet’s visions of London. That sounds like fun.

UPS debacle: Not much going on in this front. I was issued a claim number, and now they will decide whether they will pay for it or not. No solid answer, but it looks hopeful. Apparently the lady who is head of Allied Services thinks this is a positive view, but not a guaranteed demonstration of good-will. Oh well.

Job search update: I have an interview with a job that offers 14 dollars per hour and is a temporary position that after three months will grow to a permanent position. The Temp Agency i told you about is “recomending” me for the job, whatever that means. There is still an interview process i’m supposed to go through. Also the job is doing accounting work. If i don’t like the job at any time, i can leave it and the temp agency will look for more work for me fulfill.

If i get it, and all goes through, a 14$ an hour is around 2240 a month before taxes, this is not a bad job up here. After Rent and necessary expenses, it seems i will have a good bit of money to set-aside. This is good because you should see the list of things we need up here.
– COMPUTER!
– clothes to work in.
– Non-Dorm Size Refrigerator
– Dishwasher
– clothes to go out in.
– World of Warcraft back up and running.
– STABLE internet connection.

heh there are more things, but this is right off the top of my head.

Oh well. This was just an update.

P.S. I like Word Press.

Are you guys still coming down in June/July? Or is that dependent upon the work situation? I see that you tried to call me yesterday around 5 pm (cst). Sorry, but I was passed out. I’ll send you a pm with information I’m going to need from you. Ron.

seriously dependent upon the work situation. If i can get off for a week then i’ll come down there. If i cannot get off a week then we will have to push it back to august. Mary and I had this fight already. I thought she wanted to go even if i didn’t go, but apparently she doesn’t. Her going is dependent upon my going, so my going is dependent upon work situation. all up in the air.

(david says, “let’s not fight. there’s no point in it now. nothing’s settled.” mary sits down next to david. “no, there’s no point.” david puts his arms around mary. “not now.” mary sits on his lap. echoes: “not now.” kiss kiss.) ha. i actually came away from this particular argument with the idea that–though i was surprised and disappointed at the idea of going without you, and offended that you’d assumed that i was going to do it without consulting me–i might have to, since your work situation might not allow it. with new developments and the good possibility that you’ll be interviewed and accepted for this position*, i seriously doubt you’ll be able to get off. because it is only a 3 month position, it probably wouldn’t be prudent for you to even ask–i wouldn’t want to encourage you to in this case–i was only going to encourage you to do that if, perhaps, you got a 2 week gig that ended at a convenient time. so anyway i was thinking that i’d go by myself. we don’t really have a choice if you get this job. you probably wouldn’t be able to go in august either. besides, you want your stuff now. *btw, everybody, david neglected to mention that he is in all probability the only candidate being interviewed for the position at this time; also, he underestimated its pay by $240 a month. if he gets it, for the first three months, he’ll be making the equivalent of $29,000 a year, and if they decide to keep him (and he decides to stay) at the end of those three months, he would be getting a raise. go david!

or i am… someone has to be… i’ve never been in a situation in which the “arrived at conclusions” of which as so drastically different… ok the arrived at conclusion is that you will be going down by yourself. sounds good. i’ll ask wduluoz to help you load up the car. Hopefully you can make it there and back safely.

Boy, this is not good when you are talking via the internet instead of one on one. hehehehe. I agree with Mary that if the job comes through it would not be prudent that you ask for time off. But of course, I am just an outside listener who should keep her mouth shut. (But you know I have problems with that.)

  8. arglor Says:

of course now she argues differently… the whole argument began when i said, “I might not be able to get off of work to go down at the end of the month because i would have been just hired on and it would look bad to begin by asking for a week off.” she said and i quote, “I’m not going down there without you. I can’t drive all the way down there and back by myself, it would be too expensive.. etc etc.” In my interpretation of the world the argument ended with us having postponed the argument till august when i could figure out what kind of job i had. In her interpretation she assumed it wasn’t such a bad idea to drive down there by herself. So she now argues for driving down there to pick the stuff up by herself. We just finished the argument five seconds ago and concluded (in my mind we concluded this) that during an argument she is going to be dogmatic and attempt to win no matter what, which means we end up making a third viable option. (I.E. Put the trip off till August) When the argument is complete, Mary synthesises the information and has a tendency (not all the time, just some of the times) to see the other side’s point and agree with it whole heartedly and neglect to inform any other parties involved. So in the context of this argument, that meant that after all was said and done, she came to the conclusion that driving down there by herself wasn’t a bad idea. So thats where she derived her new conclusion. all the same i doubt i’ll be coming down anytime soon.

(one of the problems is the circumstances keep changing, and we keep having to change our plans accordingly. also, you’ve recently expressed uncertainty about whether you want me to bring up your chair and desk… that could change what we choose to do, too…) what happened earlier? did your phone just cut off… please call me back or respond to my PM. we still need to figure out what time to meet and where.
