meant to say this earlier..

I got into a car wreck thursday. It was harmless for me. Some woman ran under the back end of my blaizer. It might have bent my bumper, but i doubt it. I survived. Scared me to death though.

When i saw her car though, it was horribly messed up. I didn’t call the police because she would have gotten a ticket and i didn’t see the need for more drama.

so our actions are determined… at least in part.

Key points I’ve come to accept over these last few years in philosophy…

– Determinism is not incompatible with free-will..

– Self-identity is in limbo, and demonstrates a good example in which our language diverges from our philosophical understandings.

– Morality does exist. some properties morality has:
— morality is not subjective.
— morality is not arbitrary.
— morality is best understood as the physical laws governing human social interactions *

– Nietzsche is such a prick.
— But a very intelligent prick who has some very interesting things to say about existence.
— says morality is arbitrary and therefore doesn’t exist.
— destroys prescriptive morality.

-Shakespeare is a very good writer.
— but people attribute a lot to him that makes me wonder how much is our content being pulled out of his mouth, or how much is him actually arguing for this.
— His historical plays are very intriguing**.

– cults are largely misunderstood by the professor teaching the topics class at UL.

– Science and Religion are never going to work in tandem, there can only be Science and a form of personal Spirituality.

– Evil obviously exists, but people trivialize it and don’t recognize that evil is simply a face in which nature wears. Nature being the objects in which humanity interprets. Evil is simply the interpretation we place on the physical world, much like good is. Filters, everything boils down to filters of perception for the world we see.

– Truth exists, people just don’t recognize the stagnant nature of truth as a whole.
— Nietzsche might have argued that truth doesn’t exist, but he used appeals to truth to make such arguments work.
— Logical truths (a priori truths exist as a linguistic understanding and filter of how the world works)
— Nomological truths (truths produced by science like physical laws)
— Moral Truths (Truths governing social interaction), etc.
— There are an astoundingly large variety of truths in the world that people recognize and use on a daily basis.
— These truths are about as absolute as your going to get, if you set your standard for evidence as high as certainty, you will be sorely disappointed with the truths you find because for certainty to exist, we would have to have 100% knowledge about a subject matter, and there are limitations placed on our data, sensory collection equipment, etc.
— Standards of evidence are mandatory for maintaining truth functionality.

– Symbolic logic is fun, when you are not being graded on it.

– Philosophy in general is fun.

– Contemporary moral dilemmas exist, and are relevant in all walks of life.

I’m done for now.. as I think of more I’ll jot them down.

* my own theory of how morals work. cause and effect.. I shoot a person in front of another there are understood reactions to this action.

** I really don’t like Shakespeare, I guess that makes me ignorant in some eyes. I respect him because he garners such renowned popular support, I just don’t care much for his works in a personal opinion.

So today is my last day here.

How un-cool is this, i brought my camera today. I plan on shooting a few films strips of my life here as i know it. I plan on getting pictures of Mike (Snaars) and Dr. Korcz. Others will more then likely get taken. All around it is simply marking a moment in my life. Sad? Perhaps. All around it is manditory.

Mealymel’s reading went well last night, i enjoyed it. As much as i know mealymel on the blog, i still have very little meeting experience with her outside of cyberland. This makes me feel like certain “social” privleges arn’t allowed, and so i didn’t walk up and say hi till the end of the whole presentation, and even then it was just to tell her that i enjoyed her presentation.

It was an interesting presentation. I think her argument was in support of love being defined via social “pop” art. I think I agree that there is a part of the definition of love that is portrayed by society. I was not familiar with John Hughs though till this morning, and that is a running theme throughout her story. To say i’m not familiar with was actually horribly incorrect. Apparently i am. Ferris bueller’s day off, Breakfast Club (Mary told me i should watch this and i did, it was cute), wierd science, and of course the whole home alone debacle are known to me. The rest i haven’t but a vague clue through the social medium that is our homogenous* existence.

All in all the overall experience was enjoyable.

Last night was reminiscent of being with an old friend of mine, Lucas. I enjoyed it a great deal. So here i went and did it. For three years i spent having friendships that were setup to deteriorate so that when i graduated i could pick up and leave without any problems whatsover. I failed.

The last two years i ended up making several friendships i hope never deteriorate. Ah well. Its a good thing i suppose.

I have also seriously changed over time, and hopefully it won’t stop fully.

*HLF explication.

HA HA! the internet is up AGAIN! WOOHOO

bad idea… anyone remember young indiana jones? yeah. Indi wasn’t so good as the young innocent version, i don’t think Han will either.

BAd idea bad…

I’m tired. This is a rough week.

Monday was kewl though, saw robots with Ronnie’s kids and Ronnie himself. It was a fun day. His kids were wired. Ah well. They were also the nicest and most polite kids i’ve seen, Mr. David this and Mr. David that… hehe i’m old 😉

NIN and my conclusion…

I do not like the new album by NIN. All of it isn’t bad, but as an album it fell seriously short.

Why?

For one key point of reference, I actually skip songs. When you skip songs, that is a sure sign you don’t like the Album.

Now on the brightside, i really do enjoy several key songs. 7 i believe and 13 also… not positive.. 6 is ok also… even though trey attempted to turn trent into a pirate by writing the words out. Oh well. It can’t be all bad if the cd is in my cd player still, yet again i listen to NPR a lot. I skip like four of the songs when i’m listening to it. 2 especially. I hate 2.

And so it begins…

Coordinator: Crucifixion?
Person 1: Yes.
Coordinator: Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.
[Next prisoner]
Coordinator: Crucifixion?
Stan: Yes.
Coordinator: Ahhh… Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.
[Next prisoner]
Coordinator: Crucifixion?
Stan: Er, no, freedom actually.
Coordinator: What?
Stan: Yeah, they said I hadn’t done anything and I could go and live on an island somewhere.
Coordinator: Oh I say, that’s very nice. Well, off you go then.
Stan: No, I’m just pulling your leg, it’s crucifixion really.
Coordinator: [laughing] Oh yes, very good. Well…
Stan: Yes I know, out of the door, one cross each, line on the left.

strange post eh?

I am begining a cram session. Tomorrow i have a physics test and a french test. I want to be dividing verb conjugates, and conjugating gravitational theories.

let me geek out for a second…

SO AMD verus Intel is one of those various arguments that geeks get into and there has been really no winner the case. AMD is supposedly quality work at a vastly cheaper rate, where as Intel is more powerful *depending on model etc* yet also very expensive. I’m bastardizing the differences, but they are there all the same.

All the same, there was a computer awards show that was sponsored by Intel in Birmingham. According to various links of sources varied, AMD won the coveted honor of best chipset of the year. Link 1 and Link 2. Anyways take it with a grain of salt i suppose, but if it is true i have even more reason to stick with AMD.

Intel sponsors the show and aparently the award presenter left the stage before presenting the award to AMD. They just left the award on stage and walked away. Hilarious. (one L right?)

For the 200th post on this new form of blog.. it will be a

First off, Mary is sick. I feel bad for her so if she logs in I wanted to collect a few news articles I found interesting so she could peruse them.

News post…
China cures diabetes through transplantation. Who the hell said communist nations don’t produce technological advancements due to a stagnation in the work force? Does Ego really drive technological advancements? Does communism really preach 100% equality, or is that simply the propaganda statement? Every single question i’ve raised is very absurd, because they work off of cardboard interpretations of China’s communist political structure.

Oil prices. This article just explains what has been happening the last few weeks with the cost of gasoline, and it also offers projections of the future.

Hah french love at it’s best. This is why i’m not romantic baby, romance kills people ;).

Interesting dilemma. This seems to be a major point of contention with the republican party, either we close the borders or open them and offer them legal work. Decisions decisions…

As always, she appears to some and remains hidden to others. Man a yellow and white stain on the overpass in the shape of the virgin Mary is good enough to draw crowds, but Chris Ofili, the Anglo-African Roman Catholic, whose mixed-media work, The Holy Virgin Mary, is obscene. I think intention plays into the whole affair. One instant, he intended to create the work out of feces and in the other she intended to arise from a urine stain on the side of the overpass. I’m joking of course, she doesn’t exist so she can’t intend anything.
BTW I really want to go see this work of art Mary.

FWHAT!? You mean obesity isn’t the killer we belived it to be!? OH my god. Haha i’m glad i don’t use scientific studies to regulate what is healthy for me, because i’d be schitzophrenic. This isn’t to say i don’t consult them for general directionary purposes, but i don’t need a dietary study to tell me begin overweight is unhealthy for me. HLG tells me that every day of the week as i trudge up to the fifth floor.

Uh oh… So drinking might not be as healthy as they claim it to be? FWHAT?! I’m sorry to show this to you Mary. I just thought it was so relevant to this blog.
